The event will feature the following:


A variety of exhibitor booths and tester demonstration booths. A panel of medical and financial professionals will speak thru out the day. Speakers will be located in Ballroom A and the Exhibitors/Demonstrations will be in Ballrooms B and C.

Scott Gidley, President of Charitable Financial Partners

 

A long-term resident of Lakeway, Scott Gidley has actively supported our community by serving on numerous boards and task force committees; by fundraising for scholarships, teacher grants, LTHS organizations, and youth sports; by volunteering with several local non-profit organizations; and by coaching, refereeing, and umpiring for LTYA sports.  


Scott's wife, Beth, is a banking executive with Independent Bank in Lakeway.  His two daughters, Jennifer and Melissa, both graduated from LTHS, and both are now teachers in LTISD.  Scott appreciates the diverse recreation and lifestyle opportunities of our Lakeway/Lake Travis communities, and he enjoys walking his grand dogs in our beautiful parks.


With over 30 years experience in financial services, Scott Gidley is the founder and President of Charitable Financial Partners, a local firm that provides Medicare insurance planning advice as well as retirement and investment planning services to individuals, families, and business owners.   Annually, Scott supports several local charitable organizations. 


Brian Hill, Science Reporter

 

Brian Hill spent his career as a TV science reporter, Brian was called called “the explainer”. He is an expert at explaining technology to the average person.


For eight years he’s specialized in teaching iPhone iPad and android smart phones to seniors. Most recently he has been teaching iPhone iPad at Belmont Village seniors center.


He will review his favorite “apps for seniors” to help with the top five senior problems,1. Sleep, 2. Memory loss, 3. Vision loss, 4. Typing problems on a tiny smart phone screen and 5. Medical Alert using your smartphone. 


Dr. Mark Carlson, Geriatrician, Be Well MD


Dr. Carlson is a fellowship-trained, board- certified geriatrician, internist and oncologist with 25 years of healthcare experience. He received his medical doctorate from Loma Linda University in California and completed his geriatric medicine fellowship at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. Prior to his move into geriatrics, Dr. Carlson spent nearly 20 years of practice in medical oncology, where serious illness had to be managed with the latest in medical technology, compassion and a trusting patient-doctor relationship. Dr. Carlson combined this experience with his strong desire to help seniors in the aging process to create Be Well MD. Be Well MD is a medical practice designed specifically for aging adults, providing the highest quality medical care to individuals living in private residences and in senior living communities. Be Well MD also provides transitional care for seniors discharged from hospital and rehab back to home. Dr. Carlson’s personal mission is to help seniors live healthier and happier lives. 


Nathan Drummond, MD Orthopedic Surgeon, Baylor Scott & White Health

 

It’s no wonder Dr. Drummond settled near Austin: as a UT grad and water sports lover, he has always felt at home here. While completing his training out of state in Kansas and New York City broadened his horizons, he and his wife have always been anxious to get back to Texas. He is thrilled to join the Orthopedic Surgery department at Baylor Scott & White Lakeway and just as thrilled to meet new patients.

David Murdy, MD, Internal Medicine, Baylor Scott & White Health

 

Dr. Murdy enjoys helping his patients solve complex diagnostic and medical management problems and working with them to get the most out of life. In his spare time, he enjoys boating, flying, reading and spending time with his wife and four sons.

Moderator Cyndi Cummings, Broker - Realty Austin, President - LT Senior Services:

 

While she works with people of all ages, Cyndi specializes in helping older adults (those 55+), senior citizens, and their caregiver families navigate the unique challenges that face boomers and seniors when they contemplate a late-in-life move. The financial, emotional, and logistical issues faced by older adults are unique and demand a specially-trained real estate agent who understands the complexities of such a move.


Cummings holds the designation designation of Certified Senior Housing Professional (CSHP) from The Seniors Real Estate Institute,  Senior Real Estate Specialist® (SRES) from the National Association of Realtors and is an approved trainer for SRES courses in Texas.
